TRADING UPDATE                                                                  
Shareholders are advised that Spur`s headline earnings for the year ended 30    
June 2004 are expected to be between 30% and 40% higher than the headline       
earnings per share for the comparable period.  The increase is due to buoyant   
trading conditions, particularly during the second half of the financial year,  
as well as substantially lower unrealised exchange losses.                      
The company`s results for the year ended 30 June 2004 have not been reviewed    
and/or reported on by the company`s auditors and accordingly, shareholders are  
advised to exercise caution when dealing in the company`s securities on the JSE 
until the year end results are published on or about 13 September 2004.
