M-Cell appoints permanent group CE

Mr Phuthuma Nhleko has accepted the position of CE of the M-Cell group with effect from 1 Jul 02. Mr Nhleko will succeed Paul Edwards, who will continue to make his services available on a consulting and advisory basis until the completion of his contractual arrangements. The board is currently considering the appointment of a non-executive chairman to succeed Mr Nhleko. Nhleko has a BSc in civil engineering from Ohio State University and an MBA from Atlanta University. After early experience in the civil engineering industry, he worked as a Corporate Finance Manager at Standard Merchant Bank, after which he became a founder member of Worldwide African Investment Holdings as chief executive officer and executive chairman in 1994.
