EARNINGS UPDATE                                                                 
Companies listed on the JSE Limited are obliged to notify shareholders as       
soon as the Board is satisfied that a reasonable degree of certainty exists     
that headline or actual earnings per share will vary by more than 20%           
compared to the previous corresponding reporting period.                        
Datatec, the international Information & Communications Technology (ICT)        
group, is currently finalising its results for the six months ended 31          
August 2006 which are expected to be released on 1 November 2006. In this       
regard, shareholders are advised that Datatec is expected to report interim     
headline earnings per share of between 15 and 16 US cents for the six           
months ended 31 August 2006 (2005: 12 US cents).                                
Earnings per share are expected to be between 15 and 16 US cents (2005: 10      
US cents).                                                                      
Datatec had a strong overall financial performance during the six months to     
31 August 2006, improving on previously reported interim results. This was      
driven by strong increases in revenues, improved margins and tightly            
controlled operating costs.                                                     
The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not      
been reviewed and reported on by the Group"s auditors.
